Structures play an important role for the target species, as they either use them themselves, for example for breeding or hunting, or their prey depend on them. Structural elements that primarily benefit the prey of the Life Bats & Birds target species include stone and deadwood piles. Both provide a habitat especially for insects, as they offer both hiding places and food. Stone piles also provide ideal conditions for reptiles in particular due to their thermal characteristics, in addition to the interstitial spaces that provide hiding places. Therefore, these structural elements should be placed at suitable locations in order to improve the feeding conditions for the target species. In addition, perches are to be installed to enable the Great Grey Shrike and Red-backed Shrike to hunt, especially in places where the vegetation does not (yet) allow it, such as newly planted hedges. For the two bat species, the habitat situation is to be further improved by adapting buildings to their needs.
